The village was then located in the North, right where Nuevitas port is now. Later, its inhabitants decided to move to the south, where Camaguey is now.

If you are interested in speleology, there are, more than 70 caves of great speleological and archeological intertest in Sierra de Cubitas and the flora and fauna in this area is just amazing. Vigueta Pass, Lechuza (Owl) Cave, Bonet's Pit, Maria Teresa's and Pichardo's Caves, Rolando's Chasm and Cayo Caguamas are just some of the main natural attractions in this area.
On the other hand, Camaguey City, one of the top holiday destinations in Cuba has is a center of culture and history. It has been home to many important Cuban personalities. Apart from Ignacio Agramonte, many other well known Cubans were originally from Camaguey: Esteban Borrero Echevarria, Gaspar Cisneros Betancourt, José de Armas y Cespedes, Enrique José Varona, Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda, Carlos Juan Finlay, Nicolás Guillen, Emilio Ballagas and many others.
