When you travel to Havana Cuba you will realize that the city is artificially divided into regions. It gives you a clear idea of what Havana is like. Old Havana is where the city was originally founded and it is an area in Havana you will never miss on your holiday trip to Cuba.

It goes from the bay to Prado Promenade. Central Havana is the area next to Old Havana, where the Havana city extended to once The Wall was turned down. Later in history the urban center of the city moved to Vedado, a new developed area that covers from Infanta Street to the tunnel that gives access to Miramar, a region east of the city, developed in the 20th century, where the new rich started building their luxurious residences. At the same time, the suburbs of the capital city extended around the town.
Today, Havana city has a population of 2. 1 million people. When you travel to Cuba you will agree with me that Havana is a city of contrasts, I guess this is very much the image I have about Cuba in general, but in Havana these contrasts are everywhere. It is so diverse, that there are great chances it will surprise you. Contrasts are present in architecture, in the way people behave and dress, in food, in music. There is a kind of mystery around the city of Havana Cuba that makes it special not only for visitors, but also for its citizens. Once you travel to Havana, you never forget it, or it never forgets you, I would say, because you become part of Havana’s history. You develop a sense of belonging; you will always have to come back.
Havana, the capital city, is also the cultural center of the country and as people say, it gives you a gauge of what people think and how they feel, that is one of the reasons why you can't say you have been to Cuba if you haven’t travelled to Havana. It is in Havana where the new trends in the country originate and new standards are set. Some of the most important festivals and fairs take place in Havana. The city offers tourists and local citizens lots of attractions. There are many nightlife options especially for those who love music and dancing. If you are looking for accommodation in Havana, Havana hotels, hostels and rooms for rent or casas particulares (as Cubans call them) cater to every pocket and taste.

Though Havana is not one of top Cuba beach destinations, there are some very nice beaches in the east of Havana for those who want to visit the capital city, but feel that going to the beach is a must when travelling to Cuba. Another possibility would be to combine a trip to Havana city with an escape to Jibacoa, about 40 minutes away from Havana, or to Varadero, just a two hour drive from the capital city. Going south of Matanzas, Guama, Giron and La Cueva de los Peces could also be interesting options for tourists eager to explore around. There are some great diving spots in that area.

Pinar del Rio attractions are also accessible to Havana visitors. You can visit Soroa, Viñales, or relax for a couple of days in Cayo Levisa and then come back to Havana Cuba for a few more thrilling days before going back home One thing is for sure; you can make plans for your trip to Havana city, but don’t worry much about what to do in Havana, because you will always lack time to do all you have planned.
