


Catholic religion is widely spread in Cuba. It is considered that Cuba has always been a Catholic country, mainly because of the Spanish influence in the island. There have been ups and downs in Cuba religion history.Though Cuba Constitution guarantees all citizens cult's freedom, there was a time after the 1959 revolution when relationships between Catholic Church and Cuba Government were very tense.

They include: Baptists, Pentecostals, Seventh-day Adventists, Presbyterians, Anglicans, Episcopalians, Methodists, Lutherans, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and others.
There are also some other religious groups present in Cuba: Greek Orthodox Church, the Russian Orthodox Church, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, etc. Free Masonry is also represented in Cuba. It has always played an important role in the History of Cuba. Many Cuba heroes were Freemasons. Jose Marti is an example of them.
It is worth to take a look at some Catholic churches when you travel to Cuba. Catholic churches’ architecture is generally very beautiful. Catholics celebrate religious services and many festivities. The Caridad del Cobre Virgin, the Catholic Patron of Cuba, and San Lazaro are the most venerated Catholic saints in Cuba religion.
