Santiago de Cuba is located in the east of Cuba’s main island. It is bounded by Granma Province on the west, Guantanamo on the east and Holguin on the north. The south of Santiago is bathed by the Caribbean Sea.

You can go to the place where the Command Headquarters of the Second Front of the Rebel Army (Comandancia del II Frente Oriental) was based.
“La Isabélica” museum, on the way to la Gran Piedra is another interesting place you can’t miss. It is an early-19th-century coffee plantation that used to be the property of a French immigrant who left Haiti in 1791, after the slave rebellion. It was named La Isabelica on behalf of a beautiful slave who was the owner’s mistress and later became his wife.
If you love old cars, you can visit the National Transport Museum during your Cuba holidays while in Santiago. You will find there a 1951 Chevrolet that was driven by Raul Castro to the Moncada attack, Beny More’s Cadillac and many more.
Another place you should visit when you travel to Santiago on your Cuba vacations is El Cobre. It is the most important church in Cuba; it is a shrine that is set at the foot of Sierra Maestra Mountain, surrounded by tropical forest. The church was built in 1927 and it is called El Santuario de Nuestra Señora de la Caridad del Cobre.
